"Find out how the modern printing industry participated in the rise of the working class world."During this workshop discover how the industrial revolution was written in our neighborhood. The old flour mill that welcomes us is an example.And among the numerous factories present in the west of Brussels in the last century, some printing houses played a great role in the diffusion of information and the sharing of knowledge.The permanent exhibition, the small animated films and the role-playing games will allow us to understand how the difficult living conditions of the workers gave birth to the current social rights through the revolts and protests.And, if it is undeniable that the press participates in the diffusion of ideas, knowledge and claims, we must not lose sight of the fact that it has always been and still is today an impressive propaganda tool. In small groups, let's question what it means to "transmit information", the choice of typography, forms and colors, the existing tools and the various forms of press.Soaked with all the ideas and information, let's create together a text and then a poster and reproduce it with a manual press and engraved letters.And with our Heidelberg machine, let's see what chain printing is all about!
